Our History
The Voland was founded by Gary Skalsgard, the first Nordic settler in Thunder Bay. He brought the speciality of the Nordic Region and created this place with love, care and determination. The building was carried on a cart and pulled by 8 horses from the Kaministiquia River bank. And the ownership has been passed on for generations, currently belonging to Adam Skalsgard, who is its 9th owner.
It used to be a hotel before along with restaurant but the hotel was discontinued and the place was used for dining halls instead. We here serve many local foods, with canadian pride and a touch of nordic influence. So, hurry up fast and taste the food that makes you want to come to Volund again and again and again and again.
